Points for mentions is an interesting idea, but probably won't happen... at least not in 2011 or it wouldn't be fair to those who have participated all year under the current structure.  We're the only daily contest with mentions, and we do that because we have a hard time NOT mentioning good captions.  In fact, most contests don't even award 2nd or 3rd place. 

 

Alas, this is your website.  So we will tool around with the process next year and try to incorporate new features and scoring system, while considering all suggestions.

Cool! I propose half points for mentions unless it's too much trouble, mostly because I've had a lot of mentions and I think it might get me closer to the lead. Hu-haa! No, but it's really cool to be in the top 10.
